Five Apple Arcade games will arrive on September 3, led by ad-free editions of Block Blast! and Art of Fauna: Cozy Puzzles. Apple is placing particular attention on puzzle games for the September update, but the lineup also covers football, family activities and digital tabletop gaming.
Block Blast!+ and Art of Fauna: Cozy Puzzles+ will join NFL Retro Bowl ’27, Coloring Games for Families+ and Let’s Play! Oink Games+. All five titles will be included with Apple Arcade without advertising or additional in-app purchases.
The additions follow Apple Arcade’s established mix of original releases and “Plus” editions adapted from successful App Store games. A Plus version generally retains the main experience while removing advertising and purchases that interrupt or restrict the standard edition.
Block Blast!+ Brings the Chart Hit Without Ads
Block Blast!+ brings Hungry Studio’s popular grid puzzle to Apple Arcade. Players place groups of blocks onto a board and attempt to complete horizontal or vertical lines before running out of usable space.
Its basic mechanics can be understood within a few turns, but achieving high scores depends on planning several placements ahead. Clearing multiple lines together creates combinations, while a poorly positioned piece can divide the board into spaces that later blocks cannot fill.
The game has become a frequent presence near the top of mobile download charts. Its short sessions work well when someone has only a few minutes, while the score system creates enough pressure to support much longer attempts.
The Apple Arcade edition removes advertisements from the experience. That change is especially relevant to a puzzle based on repeated sessions because an advertisement between rounds can interrupt the rhythm that encourages players to start again.
Apple says Block Blast!+ will preserve the familiar block-placement gameplay rather than introduce a separate sequel. Players should therefore expect the Arcade release to focus on uninterrupted access to an established game.
The Plus designation does not necessarily mean progress from the standard Block Blast! application will transfer automatically. Apple has not announced save migration between the two editions, and separate App Store listings commonly maintain independent save files.
Existing players should keep the original application installed until Hungry Studio provides more information about progress, statistics or account transfers. The Arcade edition can still appeal to people who want the same game without its advertising structure.
Art of Fauna Puts Accessibility First
Art of Fauna: Cozy Puzzles+ offers a slower puzzle experience built around illustrated wildlife and conservation stories. The game was created by Austrian developer Klemens Strasser.
Each puzzle begins with a vintage-style animal illustration divided into scrambled sections. Players can reconstruct the picture visually or solve an alternative text puzzle by arranging fragments of the animal’s description.
Providing two ways to complete the same subject allows the game to support people with different visual, cognitive and motor preferences. Full VoiceOver support, haptic feedback and other accessibility options are integrated into the design rather than treated as a separate simplified mode.
Apple recognized Art of Fauna twice during 2025. It won the Apple Design Award for Inclusivity and was later selected as an App Store Award winner for Cultural Impact.
The wildlife artwork comes from material associated with the Biodiversity Heritage Library. Finishing a puzzle unlocks information about the featured species, its habitat and its conservation status.
That structure gives each completed image a purpose beyond filling a gallery. Players learn about the animal represented by the artwork and can see how conservation organizations classify its risk of extinction.
The Apple Arcade edition should be a natural fit for households sharing a subscription. Its adjustable pace makes it suitable for short sessions, while its accessibility features open the puzzles to players who may have difficulty using conventional image-based jigsaws.
Art of Fauna also represents a different interpretation of the term “cozy game.” It avoids timers and competitive pressure, but its calm presentation is tied to education and environmental awareness instead of functioning only as decoration.
As with Block Blast!+, Apple has not announced whether progress from the existing App Store release can move into the Plus edition. The separate Arcade listing may begin with a new save unless the developer adds an import or account-based synchronization option.
Three More Games Complete the September Lineup
NFL Retro Bowl ’27 updates New Star Games’ pixel-art football series for the incoming season. The game combines team management with playable moments on the field, allowing users to build a roster, handle contracts and guide a franchise toward the Super Bowl.
The major addition for the ’27 edition is Gauntlet Mode. Apple describes it as a high-stakes challenge that will sit alongside the returning Career Mode and leaderboards.
Details about the complete Gauntlet structure have not been released. The name suggests a sequence of increasingly difficult games or scenarios, but Apple has not confirmed its rules, reward system or roster restrictions.
NFL Retro Bowl ’27 continues the series’ unusual position between a sports simulation and a compact mobile game. It uses officially licensed NFL teams and players while presenting them through deliberately simple pixel graphics and streamlined controls.
Coloring Games for Families+ moves the September selection toward younger players and shared household use. The application contains more than 3,000 coloring pages and creative activities intended for different ages.
Its arrival through Apple Arcade removes the purchases often used to divide children’s coloring applications into separate content packs. Families will be able to access the included activities through the subscription without repeatedly unlocking individual collections.
Let’s Play! Oink Games+ converts a collection of small-box tabletop games into a single digital release. The Arcade edition will include nine games covering cooperative challenges, bluffing, deduction and competitive strategy.
The collection can be played alone, locally with other people or through online multiplayer. That range makes it useful when physical cards and game pieces are unavailable, while the compact rules of Oink’s tabletop catalog translate well to phones and tablets.
The existing App Store edition offers a limited selection for free and sells additional games separately. The Apple Arcade version will provide its announced nine-game collection without those individual purchases.
Apple has not identified every title included in the Plus package within its announcement. The standard edition currently features games such as Deep Sea Adventure, A Fake Artist Goes to New York, Startups, Moon Adventure and SCOUT, but the exact Arcade selection should be checked when the new listing becomes available.
Puzzle Games Give Arcade a Reliable Foundation
Block Blast!+ and Art of Fauna+ join an Apple Arcade puzzle catalog that already includes Grindstone, Flow Free+, Crossword Jam+, Everyday Puzzles: Mini Games+ and Water Sort Puzzle: Get Color+.
Puzzle games offer a useful balance for a subscription catalog. They do not require players to begin a lengthy campaign, learn complex controls or schedule sessions around other people. Someone can open a game, complete a board and leave within minutes.
They can also remain installed for months because the mechanics encourage repetition. A large adventure may be removed once its story is finished, while a daily puzzle or score challenge can become part of a routine.
The Plus program gives Apple access to games that have already attracted large App Store audiences. Developers receive another way to distribute their work, and subscribers get versions without advertising or consumable purchases.
That approach carries a discovery challenge. People searching the App Store may see standard and Plus editions of the same title and wonder which version they need. Apple must identify the subscription edition consistently and explain whether saves, achievements and updates are shared.
Device compatibility can also differ across the catalog. Apple’s Arcade Originals may support iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV and Vision Pro, while App Store Greats are generally limited to iPhone, iPad and Vision Pro. The individual App Store page remains the safest place to check support before installing a game on a particular device.
Current Arcade Games Receive August Updates
Apple is filling the weeks before the September releases with new content for three existing games.
On August 12, puffies. will add 28 puzzle packs. Two of the included collections use artwork based on Oden Tomodachi and The Knights.
Simon’s Cat – Blast Time begins a larger update on August 20. The game will receive 200 new levels, released in groups of 50 each week across one month.
On August 26, stitch. will reach 800 individual embroidery hoops. Lykke Studios is marking the milestone with a commemorative hoop and a new achievement for players to unlock before the five September games arrive the following week.
